Don’t look at future with the blind eyes! The
past is useful for Bengal mirror in the future. (Soekarno’s Speech in Independence Day 1996)
Soekarno, that’s Indonesia people know him. His real name
was Koesna Sosrodihardjo. Born on June, 6, 1901 and died on June, 21, 1970. Soekarno
in the eyes of history books which published among elementary school students
was a hero. Hero of Independence Day who looked dashing with the text of
proclamation. Yet, Soekarno’s dignity was limited to the story of high school
history course. Indonesia’s history books, political, and other media in the
college began to uncover polemic of Soekarno, during his life in his power.
Soekarno was known as the first president of
Republic of Indonesia who held governance since 1950 until 1966. Politic in
Soekarno period was started by arising of Indonesia Communist Party (PKI) so it
can shuffle him along in the condition of immersed. Soekarno in his history was
much against all people who didn’t disagree with his ideology. Moreover
Soekarno was not unwilling to jail his partners who were not agreeing with his
views. Soekarno was controversial figure until the day when he informed in ill
condition. And finally he passed away and buried in Blitar, East Java.
All about Soekarno was about Indonesia.
Perhaps not little people who have read polemic history about Soekarno in his
governance will consider that Soekarno was authoritarian leader who didn’t side
to public. But, not little people too who can appreciate that Soekarno was
creator of nation history.
If Soekarno never alive, maybe there was no
August, 17, 1945 which celebrated as Independence Day, there was no communist
term which make this nation awakened to learn it, no title about Authoritarian
Press in history books of media in Indonesia and there would be other
probabilities that can be occur if Soekarno never was.
Anyhow, Soekarno was the main actor who
played historical film in this mother earth. By laying a glass in history, this
national democratic life maybe better in his leader era. We felt transpirations
having a nation life in media. That’s must be like that. But it’s not only this
life now is better than live in Soekarno era. At least, if we live in his era
we would not listen to press information about corruption of government every day.
21st June, the day of Soekarno’s
died. Yeah…one equal thousands of Indonesia youth who remember even understand
about his history, maybe it’s only students of political and historical science.
Soekarno maybe would remain when Past Celebrating in the big city.
Hoping your new life can comfort your mind,
your heart, and your soul, Mr.Karno…
Don’t worries, Indonesia will always remember
you…
